Our dogs have all gone through rattlesnake training. Most of the dogs run the other way and don't say a word, but one of ours goes absolutely ballistic when she hears rattles. In the night, she rang out, but Dan was not hearing any other dogs and didn't realize it was something important. Very important. At first he scolded her, but she wouldn't listen, she insisted he check. She kept running him to the door to go outside. As soon as he stepped out he heard the buzzing but he also saw our cat Rascal, who hunts at night, right on top of the snake (or at least it looked like it, he was within striking distance). Dan yelled loud and Rascal ran, saving him from being bit just in the nick of time.
