Our dogs have all gone through rattlesnake training. Most of the dogs run the other way and don't say a word, but one of ours goes absolutely ballistic when she hears rattles. In the night, she rang out, but Dan was not hearing any other dogs and didn't realize it was something important. Very important. At first he scolded her, but she wouldn't listen, she insisted he check. She kept running him to the door to go outside. As soon as he stepped out he heard the buzzing but he also saw our cat Rascal, who hunts at night, right on top of the snake (or at least it looked like it, he was within striking distance). Dan yelled loud and Rascal ran, saving him from being bit just in the nick of time.
I found the queen. Nothing really looked wrong with her. Her wings were fine. But they whole group of them were starving. Must have taken too long to get to where they wanted to go. Either that or someone or something caused them to abscond from their hive. These lost bees are one of many that beekeeper's save on a daily basis.
I seen this at one of the dollar stores. At least they are honest to people that stop and read the label. Sure does look like honey at first glance........in a cute little bear bottle. The ingredients: High Fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Syrup and Honey.
This may just look like an inviting way down the mountain, however, pay attention to your surroundings and you may find that you are not the only one here. Up on the bank above you is an active Africanized Honeybee Hive. Mostly going about there business. But just incase, watch our Youtube for some advice on what to do if you encounter a defensive hive. TBH designs are top heavy, that paired with a dust devil coming from the same direction that the lids open is a recipe for disaster. |
